We proudly welcome the arrival of the first group of nine young participants from Poland, marking the official start of the transnational mobility project “A Chance for the Future – Edition II.” This initiative, co-funded under the Lubelskie Regional Programme 2021–2027 (Priority Axis IX: Satisfying Labour Market Needs, Measure 9.2 – Vocational Activation), forms part of the broader ALMA initiative launched by the European Commission to support youth employability and inclusion across Europe.
A Second Step Towards Employability and Inclusion
The project targets young people aged 18–29 from the NEET category—those not in employment, education, or training. Through international work placements and tailored mentoring, the project aims to strengthen their professional competencies, self-confidence, and motivation to re-enter the labour market.
Each participant begins with an Individual Action Plan (IAP) developed through personalised career counselling in Poland, followed by preparatory activities such as English language courses, cultural workshops, and interpersonal skills training. These steps ensure that all trainees are well-equipped before embarking on their two-month work placements in Cyprus.
Internships in the Heart of Cyprus’ Hospitality Industry
As the Cypriot partner, we coordinate the implementation of the internships in collaboration with the OIC Poland Foundation, the project’s lead partner. The placements take place in hotels and restaurants across Cyprus, offering participants hands-on experience in the hospitality sector—a key driver of Cyprus’ economy.
During their stay, the young interns are hosted by their hotel, Atlantica Oasis in Limassol and receive full board, local transport, and the guidance of a transnational mentor. Our mentor plays a crucial role in ensuring a smooth adaptation process, supporting participants in both professional and personal matters, and monitoring their progress throughout the mobility.
Building Bridges Between Poland and Cyprus
Beyond professional training, the project fosters intercultural dialogue and European solidarity. By immersing themselves in a new working and living environment, participants not only gain vocational skills but also develop soft skills such as teamwork, adaptability, and cultural awareness. These experiences are invaluable stepping stones toward their future employment and independence.
A Shared Commitment to Empower Youth
Upon returning to Poland, participants will continue receiving mentoring support, helping them to capitalise on their new experience through tailored guidance in job searching and career planning. Together with the OIC Poland Foundation, we share a strong commitment to empowering young Europeans through meaningful mobility experiences that create tangible pathways to employment and inclusion.
The first group’s successful arrival in Cyprus sets the tone for the next mobility waves that will follow until mid-2026. With every new arrival, “A Chance for the Future – Edition II” continues to prove that international cooperation can transform challenges into opportunities—and aspirations into reality.
