The aim of this temporary scheme is to provide training opportunities to employees of hotel units, who are under part-time or full-time suspension from their duties during the peirod between November 2013 – March 2014. The main objective is the improvement of their professional skills, and, by extension, the upgrade of the wok product regarding tourism in Cyprus.
Employees, participating in the training programs, will be paid by their employers the equivalent allowance to their salary, just like they were under normal employment conditions. In every hotel unit that participates to this program, the Government will provide for each employee an amount equal to the to the unemployment allowance that the employee would be entitled to, according to the provisions of the relevant legislation.
(a) Hotel employees who are under suspension of their duties, and will participate in company training programs .
(b) Hotel units which during the period of November 2012 – March 2013:
– remained shut and over the corresponding present period will be active, even partially, or
– had made partial suspension of operations and in the corresponding present period will reduce that suspension period and/or reduce the number of employees who will be affected by this action.
It is noted that in no case should the total number of weeks the hotel unit is under suspension of work be exceeding that of the previous year.
