The Scheme provides financial support to employers who hire unemployed women
The Scheme provides financial support to employers who hire unemployed women registered with the Department of Labour’s Public Employment Service. It is part of Active Employment Policies and contributes to gender equality in the labor market. The total budget is €7,000,000 with the aim of hiring 820 women.
- Eligibility: employers in the Republic of Cyprus; up to 5 hires per call.
- Beneficiaries: unemployed women registered with the Department of Labour’s Public Employment Service, citizens of Cyprus/EU or third countries with legal residence.
- Must not have worked for the same employer in the previous 8 months.
- The position must be registered with the Department of Labour’s Public Employment Service.
- Salary ≥ minimum: €900 gross initially, €1,000 after 6 months.
- Subsidy: €48/day worked, up to €8,600 per recruitment, duration 10 months + 2 months without subsidy.
- Application: online, within 1 month of recruitment; evaluation on a first-come, first-served basis (FIFO).
- Payments: up to 3 requests (every 4 months) or 1 final request; FIMAS (Financial Management System) and debt settlement certificates required.
- Employer obligations: electronic file (5 years), no reduction in staff in the same specialty, compliance with labor legislation, equality & non-discrimination, registration of UBOs (Ultimate Beneficial Owners).
- Right to appeal within 21 days of application rejection.
