On 12th of March we visited the Nicosia Multifunctional Municipal Center, in order to conduct a workshop about environmental engagement and ageism with older people.
During the workshop we showed and used the activities and materials developed in our European project Adults for Future. In the activities, we had the opportunity to discuss about ageism and to exchange ideas about environmental actions and climate change with seniors. In the workshop participated about 20 people and 2 adult educators.
The Adults for Future project aims to raise awareness about environmental engagement and also to educate and engage older people to be involved in green practices. Furthermore, this project aims to help adult educators and centers to become more sustainable and resilient, and so we have developed modules, activities and materials to be used for adult education in sustainability and environmental engagement.
Following the workshop, we had a tour in the garden of the Center with the participants and they showed us their botanical plants, which they planted during another workshop. We discussed about the importance of the plants in our gardens/balconies, their maintenance and the relevance with the climate change and the greenhouse effect.
We want to thank the Multifunctional Municipal Centre of Nicosia for the hospitality and the amazing workshop.
