In the evolving landscape of education, the well-being and empowerment of teachers have never been more crucial. This is where Teachers’ HAVEN steps in; a new, ambitious European initiative designed to uplift, support, and connect educators across Europe. With stress levels among teachers at an all-time high and only 17.7% feeling valued by society, the project sets out to offer a lifeline: a space where teachers are seen, heard, and strengthened.
A Vision Rooted in Empowerment
At its core, Teachers’ HAVEN Academy is about creating a high-quality, research-based training and support system that reaches both aspiring and experienced educators. The project builds upon three foundational pillars:
- Providing tools, methods, and resources that boost occupational well-being and personal development
- Developing a robust training course to enhance teachers’ skills and self-efficacy — from classroom management to pedagogical finesse
- Establishing a vibrant community of practice, connecting teachers, experts, and mentors for ongoing support and guidance
A Strong Start in Lublin, Poland
In March 2025, the project officially launched in Lublin, Poland, hosted by OIC POLAND Foundation. Representatives from all 10 partner organisations came together for a dynamic two-day kick-off meeting, aligning visions, clarifying roles, and building the collaborative spirit that will fuel the project’s success.
During the meeting, partners laid the groundwork for key outputs including:
- The HAVEN Academy e-learning platform, hosted by WSEI University
- National-level focus groups and teacher questionnaires
- A podcast series, project flyers, and the upcoming HAVEN website
- Inspiring events such as local and international Teachers’ Sanctuary bootcamps and three annual congresses in Cyprus, Portugal, and Italy
What Lies Ahead
With the roadmap set, national teams will now begin conducting focus groups and rolling out questionnaires to better understand the diverse challenges faced by teachers across Europe. Meanwhile, the project’s visual identity, social media pages, and multilingual website will launch, creating a lively space for updates, interaction, and resource sharing.
A Digital Home for Educators
A key feature of the project is its interactive e-learning platform, an accessible online environment that combines self-study modules, video lessons, and live lectures to support both professional growth and emotional resilience. This digital academy, alongside the central HAVEN website, will act as a one-stop destination for teacher development and cross-border collaboration.
