Inclusion & Equality in Focus: Highlights from 27th May 2025

Inclusion and Equality in Focus!
An event dedicated to accessibility, diversity, and equal treatment in the workplace and education.

On May 27, 2025, just days before World Multiple Sclerosis Day, a highly impactful event titled “Inclusion, Equality & Digital Education: How Businesses Can Create Inclusive Workplaces” took place at KEEAED in Nicosia. The event brought together employers, professionals, educators, NGOs, and individuals living with chronic conditions to engage in meaningful dialogue about accessibility, equity, and innovation in the workplace.

Co-organized by Eurosuccess Consulting, the Municipal Multipurpose Centre of Nicosia, and the Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association, with the support of Youth Empowerment Foundation, the event focused on how digital tools, education, and empathy can reshape our work environments to become more inclusive and responsive to diverse needs.

Showcasing the Impact of European Projects

At the heart of the event were two Erasmus+ co-funded projects nearing completion, both coordinated by Eurosuccess Consulting:

  • SHAPE MS, which supports the empowerment and upskilling of people with Multiple Sclerosis through accessible digital learning solutions;
  • DOEER, which promotes equality in higher education and the labor market through the development of open digital educational resources.

Participants had the opportunity to explore the tools developed through both projects, including digital platforms, training videos, and pilot findings from Cyprus, which all aimed at advancing inclusion in education and employment.

A Thought-Provoking Panel on Inclusive Work Culture

A highlight of the event was the panel discussion titled “Working on Equal Terms – Challenges, Innovation and Tools for an Inclusive Professional World.” The discussion featured four distinguished panelists:

  • Rafaela Miltiadous, Marketing Manager at Altamira Real Estate & Road Safety Ambassador at the Youth Board of Cyprus
  • Georgia Demofanous, President of the Cyprus Multiple Sclerosis Association & Secretary General of KYSOA
  • Marios Antoniou, Director of Human Resources at Alphamega Hypermarkets
  • Evangelia Athanasiou, Electrical Engineer specializing in Biomedical Innovation and Health Technologies

Moderated by Giorgos Giorgakis, Managing Director of Eurosuccess Consulting, the panel touched on personal experiences, workplace barriers, and innovative solutions for improving diversity and inclusion in professional settings. The audience engaged actively through a live Q&A session and interactive polling, with the evening closing on a high note during a networking reception.

Driving Change, Together

This event was a powerful reminder that meaningful change begins with our individual and collective choices, as employers, as educators, and as members of society. Promoting accessibility, empathy, and digital learning isn’t just a matter of policy, but a pathway to more just and inclusive communities.

Importantly, the event underscored the value of EU-funded initiatives like SHAPE MS and DOEER, which demonstrate how European collaboration can create real, lasting social impact. These projects stand as strong examples of how innovation, inclusion, and education can come together to transform lives across Europe.

The approach of Inclusion and Equality in Focus is reinforced through collaborations, innovative tools, and participatory processes, demonstrating that the European Union can be a catalyst for progress in citizens’ everyday lives. This vision is no longer just theoretical; it is taking on a practical dimension, touching the lives of people with disabilities, disadvantaged groups, and professionals across all sectors of society.

Through such actions and ongoing initiatives, the message of Inclusion and Equality in Focus spreads and strengthens at local, national, and European levels, paving the way toward a truly inclusive world. It encourages organizations to rethink traditional systems and put equity at the core of decision-making. It inspires educators to embrace digital inclusion and foster understanding among young learners. It challenges employers to move beyond compliance and actively shape cultures of empathy, accessibility, and respect.

Ultimately, Inclusion and Equality in Focus is not just a theme or campaign – it is a mindset, a commitment, and a call to action. It invites each of us to reflect on how we design our institutions, how we treat our colleagues, and how we remove barriers for those who have historically been excluded. The future we imagine – one of opportunity, fairness, and dignity for all – starts with the choices we make today. And as this event showed, when communities come together to listen, learn, and lead with compassion, real change is not only possible – it becomes inevitable.
