Co-Creating Regenerative Tourism Experiences

Co-Creating Regenerative Tourism Experiences: Highlights from the AGORA Workshop

On 1 and 9 September 2025, Eurosuccess Consulting successfully hosted the AGORA Cyprus Workshop – Co-Creating Regenerative Tourism Experiences, marking one of the final phases of the AGORA Project. The workshop brought together community members, local food and wine producers, tour guides, cultural representatives, and tourism professionals to design and upgrade regenerative tourism experiences rooted in Cyprus’ culture and traditions.

A Two-Part Learning and Co-Creation Journey

The workshop was delivered in two phases:

  • 01 September (Online) – Participants explored the foundations of regenerative tourism, including trends in sustainable tourism, the role of gastronomy and agritourism in strengthening community identity, and the use of digital tools to enhance local experiences.
  • 09 September (In-person, Nicosia) – A full-day, hands-on session where participants applied co-design tools, storytelling, and promotion strategies to develop new tourism experiences.

This blended format ensured that participants first gained the theoretical foundations before moving into practical co-creation.

From Concepts to Creations

The Cyprus workshop proved to be a truly inspiring experience. With energy, creativity, and meaningful collaboration, participants achieved two remarkable outcomes:

  1. Upgrading an existing tourism experience through the lens of regenerative tourism, aligning it more closely with sustainability principles and community needs.
  2. Designing a brand-new experience from scratch, directly addressing existing gaps in Cyprus’ tourism offering and rooted in local traditions, food, and wine culture.

The process not only highlighted the value of regenerative tourism in revitalising local communities but also helped strengthen networking between producers, guides, and tourism professionals. Many participants expressed gratitude for the unique opportunity to collaborate, learn, and co-create tangible outputs that will benefit Cyprus’ tourism ecosystem.

A Key Milestone for the AGORA Project

As one of the last phases of the AGORA Project (2022–2025), the Cyprus workshop demonstrated the impact of bringing together diverse stakeholders around a shared vision. It showed how regenerative tourism can be more than a concept – it can take shape as real, authentic experiences that benefit both visitors and communities.

The workshop’s outcomes will be included in the project’s final recommendations and shared across Europe, showcasing Cyprus’ contribution to regenerative tourism development.
