MICROIDEA Heads to Copenhagen for the 3rd Transnational Partners Meeting
The MICROIDEA project is at the forefront of transforming vocational education and training (VET) through the development of micro-credentials tailored for waiters in the tourism sector. This innovative initiative focuses on creating standardized, flexible, and high-quality learning pathways, enhancing skills recognition and mobility across the European labour market.
As part of its multi-faceted approach, currently, the project addresses the development of the micro-credential course which would be correlated to ISO standards.
Focus on Work Package 2 & Work Package 3: Developing a Micro-Credential Course for Waiters
- WP2: Curriculum Development – This phase involves designing a comprehensive training programme for waiters in the tourism sector. The curriculum integrates industry best practices and addresses the specific skill gaps identified in the sector.
- WP3: Micro-Credential Implementation & ISO Certification – Building on the curriculum, this phase focuses on developing modular and certifiable micro-credential courses aligned with ISO standards. By ensuring quality assurance and recognition, we aim to create a robust, transferable certification for professionals in the field.
Denmark TPM: Strengthening Partnerships & Ensuring Recognition
To further refine and validate our methodology, the 3rd Transnational Partners Meeting (TPM) will take place from April 7-9, 2024, in Copenhagen, Denmark. This meeting serves as a strategic platform to advance discussions on curriculum development, standardization, and stakeholder collaboration.
A key highlight of the TPM is our collaboration with 3F – the United Federation of Danish Workers, a major labour union advocating for workers’ rights in Denmark. Our objectives include:
- Exploring 3F’s Endorsement: Discussing potential endorsement of the micro-credential methodology and identifying necessary adaptations for the Danish labour market.
- Assessing Project Progress: Reviewing the development of the curriculum and ensuring alignment with the project’s goals.
- ISO Certification Discussions: Refining our approach to integrating ISO certification into the micro-credential framework.
- Study Visits & Best Practices: Engaging in study visits to gain insights from leading Danish institutions on vocational training and labour market integration.
The MICROIDEA project is committed to identifying, developing, testing, and assessing innovative approaches to micro-credentials in vocational education. By focusing on the waiter occupation in the tourism sector, we aim to provide a structured, internationally recognized pathway for skills development and professional growth.
As we continue to develop and refine our micro-credential framework, the MICROIDEA project remains dedicated to ensuring that VET programs are not only innovative but also aligned with industry needs and global standards. Our work with partners across Europe, including 3F and other stakeholders, strengthens our commitment to high-quality, flexible learning solutions that empower professionals and enhance career mobility.
The insights gained from our Copenhagen TPM will be instrumental in shaping the final structure of our curriculum and micro-credential approach. By fostering collaboration and integrating internationally recognized standards, we are building a future where skills are more accessible, portable, and valued across industries and borders.
